Sabin Bieri is a social geographer who specialises in questions of inequality, poverty, and sustainable development. She seeks to understand processes of uneven development across the globe and has studied a range of topics comprising the social dimension of sustainability. Her work informs CDE’s activities in land governance and global change from a social justice perspective.
Sabin leads the team of an R4D research project that studies the employment effects of high-value agriculture in four countries. She was appointed as an expert for various institutions as well as international organisations such as the International Land Coalition and UN Women. As head of one of CDE’s thematic clusters she recently assumed a position as associate director for strategy and networks. She is passionate about CDEs commitment towards engaged and transformative science – scientific work, that truly makes a difference.
